The Common Entrance Test for Design, or CEED, is administered by IIT Bombay for admission to M.Des and Ph.D. programmes at member institutes.
IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur provide the M.Des programme. Meanwhile, the Ph.D. programme is offered in various IITs and design schools.
The participating institutes will shortlist students based on CEED results, however further admission procedures may be held.
The exam is sponsored by the Industrial Design Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The CEED is a comprehensive test that assesses a student’s analytical, artistic, perceptive, and design abilities. It is used to determine enrollment into various design courses such as product design, industrial design, visual communication, animation graphics, vehicle design, and mobility.
The eligibility requirements include elements such as age, nationality, academic credentials, and so on that are used to determine if an applicant is qualified to pursue the programmes provided by the participating institutes.
It should be noted that the CEED qualifying criteria only apply to the entrance exam. Entrance standards may differ significantly from institute to institute, thus hopefuls should double-check before applying to their individual institutes.
