What exactly is the UCEED exam?

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is administered by IIT Bombay for admission to the BDes programme at the following participating institutes:

  • University of Mumbai
  • IIT, Delhi
  • University of Guwahati
  • IIITDM Jabalpur IIT Hyderabad

Applicants should be aware that just making the UCEED merit list does not guarantee admission to the B.Des programme. UCEED 2023 qualifiers must instead apply independently for B.Des admission under the joint seat allocation mechanism.

Many additional institutes accept the UCEED score card for admission to B.Des. programmes. All nations (Indian/Foreign) are welcome to apply for UCEED 2023.

Eligibility for UCEED

Requirements for Qualifying for the UCEED Test

 

  • For the entrance exam, the applicant must be born on or after October 1, 1998. Relaxation in upper age limit is 5 years for SC, ST, and PWD categories
  • An applicant can attempt UCEED for a maximum of two times and that must also be in consecutive years.
  • The candidate must have passed all topics in their 10+2 or equivalent test.
  • The applicant will take the qualifying test for the first time.
  • Students who are already enrolled in Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities for graduation are eligible.

UCEED Application Form

The UCEED application form is now closed.

Applications with late costs (INR 500) were open until November 16, 2022, while applications with ordinary fees were open until November 16, 2022. On September 30, online applications were available.

The UCEED application is for admission to M.Des and Ph.D. programmes at member colleges.

Applicants who satisfy the stipulated eligibility criteria for their programme must complete and submit the form before the deadline.

The UCEED application form is detailed below.

  • Online registration – The candidate must register through the official site by providing their email address, name, date of birth, and other information. An applicant account will be generated upon successful registration.
  • Check Eligibility – The candidate will next be required to go through an eligibility check process, which will need him or her to input their qualifying exam, passing year, and mobile number.
  • Fill out the form – Next, provide your personal, academic, and contact information. In addition, the candidate must prioritize THREE exam locations.
  • Upload documents – The candidate must next upload their photo, signature, and qualifying exam certificates in the format specified.
  • Payment of the exam cost: After ensuring that the application form is complete in every way, pay the exam fee online with net banking, credit or debit cards.

Overview of the UCEED Exam Pattern

The UCEED exam has two parts – A and B. Part A includes a written examination which is conducted in online mode, while Part B includes a drawing test conducted in offline mode.
Note that the candidate needs to qualify Part A to get evaluated in Part B.

UCEED Exam Syllabus Revised (Effective from 2024)

The revised curriculum for UCEED 2024 is now available.

IIT Bombay has recently announced that starting from UCEED 2024, the entrance test will undergo significant changes with a redesigned syllabus.

Here are the key features of the revamped UCEED syllabus and framework, effective from 2024:

  • The examination two parts: Part A and Part B.
  • Part A will be administered through a computer-based test and will be further divided into three sections: NAT (Numerical Answer Type), MSQ (Multiple Select Questions), and MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Part B will encompass two questions focusing on drawing and design proficiency. These Part B questions will be displayed on the computer screen, and candidates will be required to provide their answers by writing or drawing in the answer book provided by the invigilator.
  • Part B will have a duration of 60 minutes. These changes signify a significant shift in the UCEED examination format, bringing forth a more comprehensive and technology-driven approach for assessing candidates’ abilities.

UCEED Counseling

Candidates who pass UCEED 2023 are required to register for counseling and seating at UCEED 2023. Students are required to fill in their personal, training and contact details in the registration form and indicate their institution of choice.
